You are lifting the bike, rather than pushing it off the drop. While lifting is sometimes necessary (for instance if there is something that could hang up your rear wheel at the lip of the drop), it is usually thought to be less safe (because the up/down motion makes for a less stable landing). There are tons of videos by pros. The common theme is to execute a mini-manual (sometimes called the manual slide). You want to either push the bike forward or let your body hang back so that you keep tension on the bike and let your rear wheel come to the lip while the front wheel stays relatively level. Then you want to match the angle of your bike to the landing.

It helps to not go in slow motion, you can carry the momentum better. Otherwise you are looking good.

  3. This is like…the best video I’ve ever seen someone make for asking this question. Well done.

Won’t repeat what’s said already, so I’ll give you a way to practice drops.

Find a curb (sidewalk), the bigger the better. Try to roll as slow as possible and time it so that your front tire hits the ground at the and time as the real wheel rolls of the curb. Can you do this at any speed, then you have a solid foundation.

  5. Ok ok I’m making a how to drop video. End this epidemic once and for all
