Hey guys,

I just installed my bew Kink Desist II Brake. Had massive problems with rubbing arms on the Evo 2.5. Kink seems to have way more clearance.

I'm riding a Total BMX Hangover h4 with the DBS brake system. I had to cut the balls on the Kink straddle cable because the chainstay of my frame is absurdly short so the straddle cable was too long.

As I had to use the knarps anyway, I figured I could route the cable throught the seat post.

But by looking at it I'm wondering if that makes any sense or if it only creates more friction and uneven pull?

What do you guyys think? Should I route the straddle around the seat post like normal or keep it that way?

  1. Feels wrong. There must be a lot of friction now.
Maybe look up other pictures of the frame?

  2. I wouldn’t have even routed through those with the Desist kit, go around the seat tube.

  3. So you don’t use a straddle cable in this setup. It’s a twin cable from the gyro rotar, then splits to the inner with a bracket on the frame, the two inners cables then thread through the holes and are held on the brake arms by clamps. I’ve added a photo of a customers bike to give an idea, it’s before the cables are threaded through and clamped. It can only use a twin cable setup to work correctly on this frame, otherwise it has to be a classic straddle and hanger, with the cables not threading through the frame, but either side of the seat tube.
