  1. Unbelievable bike Andy what a build i remember this bike in my day this a stunning bike no disrespect but todays bikes cannot compare pure beauty.

  2. Haha, yes. I'm inspired.
I have (counts) 7 classic Raleigh roadies (3 are 531C, 1 is 653) and a carbon Raleigh roadie.
Recently bought a Scott fat bike !

  3. An amazing build Andy – one of your best. A Reynolds 753 from for £150!! You must have thought it was Christmas. Definitely worth all the cost of the respray and NOS parts – no wonder you are keeping it! I tend to clean each component at a time and then bag it up to avoid getting them scratched – I found that out the hard way! Another inspirational video. Many thanks.

  4. Beautiful build and the color scheme is spot on! I tell you what, today's all black/gray bike frames are just boring. These neon colored bikes will make a come back!

  5. You have never done a professional level Motobecane. They were fixtures in the Euro racing scene for years. Huret or Campy mechs? Specialties TA or Stronglight chainset? We're counting on you mate!

  6. My good sir, I have stumbled across your channel whilst watching other restoration videos and you have pushed me to correctly restore an old colombus tubed schwinn that currently sits with a hodgepodge of parts. Slowly collecting old 600 tricolor group to replace the dia compe, suntour and shimano parts currently on it now. Unfortunately I don't have the means to paint in my apt or at work but rebuilding the wheels, headset and BB have been quite fun.
Don't tell my wife though; i worry she might literally kill me and perhaps enjoy it

  7. Amazing job! Planning on restoring an old Peugeot bike I have at my parents house over Christmas. I notice you have recessed nuts for this bike's break calipers. Did the frame have the correct sized holes for this or did you have to drill it?

  8. That's a gorgeous bike. Cost of resprays has made me try my own paint jobs – can't be as good as that & takes lots of time, but satisfying. Got a Peugeot 753, but with 10 speed set up & low gears for my old legs. Lovely ride.

  9. how do your hands feel gripping these vintage levers ? So I recently brought back to life out of storage my 1987 alumnimum Guerciotti and the original DuraAce 7401 gruppo with aero levers similar to these here on your bike. I tell you, I could not grip the vintage levers. My hands were in pain. I reckon my hands hand conformed to the various ergo-STI levers I had been using over the last 20+ years that these vintage levers now felt way out of sorts.

  10. I always learn from you.
I bought an old Peugeot PR10 frame from France and had a lot of trouble integrating modern parts because I didn't learn enough about the various standards for French cars that are different from the modern ones.Pipe diameters, threading standards, sizes of various parts…everything was different.

  11. Thanks for the video and great work, it really is stunning! I have an old Peugeot in nearly these colours (just replace the purple with black) in my cellar, bit rusty, but I am thinking about selling it, because it is pretty small and we are pretty tall. Like, it is more for a 13 years old us. So, yeah, I needed to get infos, because I am a bit clueless about bikes. But I must say that your passion and joy are contagious!

  12. Curiosity brought me here as the 753 Pro was one of the bikes I had when I started riding racers (old term for road bikes back then) in the late 80s/early 90s, bought new for around £670, traded up from my Peugeot Aneto (Reynolds 501) which was £250 at the time.

Researching on new road bikes to buy now as I'm looking to start cycling again after a 25+year absent and absolutely gobsmacked at the sky high prices of top end bikes now. The 753 pro was a rare bike back then and only ever saw one other that someone at school owned but with shortened ends inverted drop bars to give a more aero position.

Had the same original water bottles in this vid, personally I would only use them for display now as they are likely to leak plastic (BPA) into the content being 30+ years old!

  13. According to my memory, in the States, we began wrapping handlebar tape from the bar-end plug up to the stem in 1987 when Pelten tape provided this in their instructions. When did mechanics make the switch in the UK? I purchased a pair of factory pilots in 88.

  14. You did an amazing job and your painter Mark is very, very good. I've been riding Peugeot road bikes since I was 13 years old. I'm in my early 60's now and I still ride Peugeot.

  15. A tremendous waste of time putting Shimano 600 back on. I did notice it had a Stronglight headset ( the best ever made), you should have opted for a modern Hollow Tech II crankset and outboard bearings… at least! The cup and cone BB are heavy POS as are square taper cranks! A very real mistake! Dual pivot brakes are now standard and there is a very good reason for this being the case. The frame and fork are way beyond the middle of the road components you chose to install. Get a grip on modern improvements!!!!
