Hello everyone, I have a set of bontrager Aeolus 49v wheels. Since I’ve had them setup tubeless the front one has been nothing but problems. I have had the rim tape reapplied and sealant added. The trek shop guy mentioned something about a notch within the wheel that was causing the issue, but the issue has returned again. The leaking seems to be coming from everywhere when the tire is on. My main question is, is what’s in the picture normal? Or Does this look like a defect?

Thank you in advance!

That looks like a defect in the rim bed, which would prevent the tape from sealing. I would ask for a warranty replacement.

Are you saying the wheel came like that new from Trek? As in, not bought second hand, and possibly “repaired”, which you weren’t made aware of?
If you got it like that from Trek – return it, no question about it. In no way shape or form is that anywhere close to normal. Rim bed should be uniform all around.
And if that’s meant to be a repair, it looks like a horrible hack-job.
