Hey everyone!

I wanted to share a story from my recent long ride during the spring holidays here in Poland.

The highlight of my "May Long Weekend" (a traditional spring break here in Poland) was a ride through the Polish-Slovak borderlands.

I started in Jasło (arriving by train from Rzeszów) and headed towards the border crossing at the Beskid Pass. From there, I rode through the charming villages of Nižná Polianka, Smilno, and Andrejová to reach Bardejov. Its historic town square has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2000, and the atmosphere there is absolutely incredible.

The second half of my cross-border loop took me through Zborov—unfortunately, I only saw the castle ruins from a distance this time, but I’ll definitely be back—and then back into Poland via the Beskidek Pass. From there, I rode to Gorlice and back to Jasło to catch my train home.

Stats for the day:

  • Distance: 155.5 km (96.6 miles)
  • Elevation gain: 1,952 m (6,404 ft)

The Polish-Slovak border is, by far, the most picturesque region I’ve ever cycled through. The moment I emerged from the forest after crossing the border and saw the breathtaking panorama of the Low Beskids (Nízké Beskydy) is something I’ll remember for a long time.

I’ve also made a mostly POV video of the trip. No talking, just the sound of the wind, the bike on the road, the music and the scenery. Enjoy!

    Just as an FYI to you and any others linking directly to Strava.

    When you link to your own Strava profile you give people a chance to see :

    * What you look like
    * Where you live
    * What bikes are in your stable
    * Possibly your IRL name

    Things you can do if you want to protect your privacy when sharing your Strava info:

    1. Just take a screenshot of what’s of interest, and then post the image
    2. Make sure you have your [privacy settings](https://www.strava.com/settings/privacy) on Strava set to have a fence around where you live
    3. Don’t put the actual make and model of your bikes in your Strava profile.

  2. Beautiful!
    How was the traffic behaving? I imagine there are not that many cyclists there, hence my curiosity 🙂

    Nice. 155 km solo is epic. I’m going to do 160 km from Toronto, Ontario, Canada to Niagara Falls, Ontario this summer but not solo. Gonna go with a few of the boys first time. Maybe I’ll be brave enough after lol.
