The Ecopista do Vouga is officially one of the best cycling experiences in Portugal! On Day 59 of my Iberia Bike Tour, I ride this newly completed rail trail westward from Viseu, enjoying the smooth gradients and stunning scenery before finding a quiet wild camp for the night.
In this episode:
• Leaving the comfort of my private dorm in Viseu.
• Exploring the “Antiga Linha do Vouga” rail trail.
• Navigating fresh infrastructure and unexpected landslides.
• Ending the day with a wild camp feast of fancy cheese and Port wine.

There is nothing quite like the silence of a wild camp after a long day on the trails! 🚂🍷 That Port wine was the perfect reward. Would you have braved that 'closed' bridge or turned back? Let me know in the comments!
Nice route. Pity about the closed bridge! I think I would have shimmied underneath the barrier!
A rail trail and not one woo-woo out of you as you rode into the tunnel 🙃
@7:15 – those Morris Dancers get everywhere! I think I would have slid my bike underneath the barrier of that bridge 🤔
On a rail trail today south from San Sebastian. Lumpy gravel, but no cars and no nearby roads, so wonderfully peaceful.

Thanks for creating and posting this video. Looks like lots of fun. But why not pause for the festival (7:06)?
