I learned how to use car brakes in a parking lot. Maybe start them there?

If his goal was to instill a fear of bikes he did a great job.

I’m sure these kids will grow up to either be amazing….or hate mountain bikes lol

  5. I mean every adult riding clipless for the first time goes through exactly the same experience as that kid…

Dad is definitely ready for those kids to rip, unfortunately those kids are not ready to rip. Slow it down Dad of the year

That is absolutely not how you want to handle that sort of wreck. WTF.

“PIZZA, PIZZA, PIZZA!!!” I guess yelling at your kid to stop doesn’t work for any downhill sports.

If you are a parent, eventually you will do something stupid, and it will be excruciatingly obvious in hindsight. I have my own list, unfortunately. This will go on that guys list.

Does not look like serious harm done thank god.

I always see stuff like this and think, why would you post this online?  What do you gain from that?

  11. Just yesterday I was running a trail and thought “Hey the kids would love to ride on this” then I got to a steep downhill and remembered their braking skills are far from 100%. And that one didn’t even have large sharp boulders lol

I’m all for pushing limits but the risk vs. reward in this video isn’t tipping the scales in the right direction.

As a parent I’ve been this soldier – sheer panic in the moment, but you’re exposing your kids to exercise in the great outdoors- that’s something they’ll never forget ❤️

    1. Don’t teach your kids on that trail
    2. Check your kid for physical trauma before comforting. Use your words instead while you use your eyes until your arms become available. That helmet was not meant for those rocks. Also, commend him on how he controlled it or at least something rather than making it seem like one giant fuck up. Kids need a little positivity no matter what in order to keep their shit together.
    3. The “FUUUCCCKKK!!!” was totally justified because he just had two wrecks within 10 seconds. The panic was not. If you panic, they panic. If you keep your shit together, so will they after a quick cry.
    4. Tell the other kid to stay put and you’ll be right back with him, or just a quick “shit, be right back buddy”

Not every parent knows this. He did his best. He obviously loves them with how he ran. He panicked because he just watched his son possibly break his neck and knew he had to leave the younger one behind who was also possibly upset. There was a lot going on and I just appreciate the effort in running to the other.

That “FUCK!!” was the sound of him knowing his wife is gonna be pissed when she see the damage on both kids and he has to show her the footage. His dream of riding with his boys is gonna come to a stop soon.

I see this all the time. Dads taking their very young children on technical trails far exceeding their children’s skill level. So stupid.

This is absolutely irresponsible. When I MTB with my 11 year old she rides in front and I communicate what’s ahead like “steep downhill ahead be ready to brake”, or “steep climb ahead get your gears ready”, or sharp turn ahead”.
