Ha! What a coincidence, I was looking up this last night for my Shimano pulleys because I noticed one said Shimano G Pulley and the other didn’t. And yes, it matters because one guides the chain when shifting. If yours has an arrow indicating direction, that’s important too.

Not only does position matter, but orientation too, especially on the lower narrow/wide pulley.
Google Photos of your derailleur to see which way the pulley teeth should oriented.

There’s a U and an L on the cogs. U for upper L for lower. On the X0 derailleurs they face out but I think it might be different for the Rival in terms of orientation.

Yes. Floating pulley goes closest to the cassette.

To throw more into the mix the black aluminum washers/spacers are also different, there is one odd one out that goes on the top pulley inner cage side. And the screw with the red goes on top and blue is on the bottom i believe. Idk y sram has to complicate things…

Also matters which set of washers go with each pulley

Look for the L and U letters. Stands for lower and upper. The letters should be facing you when you install (facing away from center)

Yes. The narrow-wide is the lower one.
