Questions:
-
Does the ‘Steerer Stop Band’ also meant to reinforce the steerer tube for added strength?
-
Does it weakens the steerer tube if removed?
-
Does the limited right-turn angle pose a danger for you?
Bonus question – Does the similar one in T-Line also considered an essential item for ‘steerer tube strength’?
The enginerd in me visualise the torsion and deformation stresses and I can’t seem to see how this little clamp aids in strengthening. I’d even consider it weakening as it is adding tension to the steerer tube, resulting in a stress point rather than a strengthening point. However very negligible.
This argument is against the logic from mountain bike mechanics’ experience of needing such a sleeve/clamp to strengthen the steerer tube. Is it still a thing these days? Especially for tapered steerer tube.

I don’t think it’s for strengthening, I’m guessing it’s to stop you from turning the bars too far.
Idk why you’re even wondering if affects strength, the manual doesn’t say anything about that, it just says don’t adjust it. As far as I know it’s just for holding the front wheel in place to keep it from flopping around when folded.
Does nothing for strength it’s the wrong shape and location for reinforcement anyway, purely to prevent the handlebars turning too far.
