Hi there !

I hope some of you could help me choose. I recently removed a bottle cage screw on my brand new Endurace CF 6 and heard the threaded insert fall inside the frame. The insert was clearly not properly bonded at the factory. Canyon confirmed it's a manufacturing defect and is replacing the full frame under warranty (or full repay). But now that i have the option to be get reimbursed i'm in doubt if i really need carbon frame and road only bike, it's my first bike and i feel something more versatile like the all-road could also do the job.

For the price i paid i could have the AllRoad + a pair of Elite Wheels to switch between gravel / road.

What could disappoint me on the all road coming from the CF6 ?

Biggest thing would probably be the Shimano Cues… I have no experience with cues though and have heard some good stuff about it – although do keep in mind its the entry entry level, while Tiagra is tried and tested and really rather solid.

  2. I have the AllRoad, just some food for thought from my side:

    – You’ll be locked into Cues with (for now) no real road cassette option. While your CF6 Tiagra is nothing fancy, it’s a nicer road setup than Cues. Depending on the riding you do / how much you care about gear ratios, this issue can go from completely irrelevant to quite annoying.

    – The AllRoad is good value for money. I still have a referral code I think if you want to save another €50. And with the EliteWheels ENT 2.0 + tpu tubes you will almost make up the weight difference to the CF6 already.

    – AllRoad comes in purple! This was the main reason for me to go for this model haha, though the paint quality is quite poor. In ~6 months of ownership and no impacts or anything to the frame I already have several spots where the clear coat is “bubbling” off.

Allroad owner here, bought it for the good value almost a year ago (it’s my first road bike) and this is my feedback after this short time:
    – Cues with Linkglide is slower than Alivio/Acera with Hyperglide. My 2×8 Acera shifts perfect compared to 2×10 Cues. I’m looking forward to upgrade to 2×11 Cues (it was released a few weeks ago) with de 11-36T Tiagra cassete. I’m hoping this will fix this annoying issue.
    – The stock wheels are quite heavy and the back Shimano hub developed a small play within the first few hundred kilometers (it’s a known issue but Shimano still has no fix for it). I replace the wheels with DT Swiss E1800 30mm and it’s quite a different bike (smoother/more responsive).
    – The Cues STI and brakes are very good, no rubbing and powerfull enought even for a heavier rider like myself.
    – The integrated mounts for fenders are a welcomed addition for all year riding and the fenders themselves are good quality.
    – The size and geometry of this bike works very well for me and I can use it for an endurance kind of riding.

CF6. The rule of thumb is to always choose the best frame possible as everything else is replaceable.
