This is NOT my original idea—just my first time trying it, and it worked so well that I thought my fellow Reddit riders would appreciate seeing it!

I had always avoided doing my own tubeless work because I don’t have a compressor or one of those fancy, expensive pumps. I saw this on YT and thought “there’s no way it’s that simple” but lo and behold…

Certainly unsurprising to those who do this regularly, but dang is tubeless work messy!! Be ready with the shop towels. Also note that the valve core should be removed before attaching the hose to the valve stem. It will allow for the best rush of air into the tire.

A used pancake compressor can be found on marketplace for under $40 pretty easily. If this works though, good on ya.

I have successfully seated tubeless tires with a regular floor pump but it doesn’t always work.

  3. Nice! I have an air compressor in the garage for the tires, so I ignored that part…..Pump sprayer to wash your bike off after the ride was all I heard… great idea. Pump sprayer to wash my body off after a ride is what I’m taking away from this video… now to clean the termite spray out of my pump sprayer and I’m all set

Cool hack! Maybe it’s just luck with my wheel/tire combos, but I’ve never needed more than a standard floor pump. A few quick pumps and the tire grabs the rim enough to hold air until it fully seats. I’ve had like 8 different wheel sets since I started using tubeless and never had an issue. Honestly curious how many people have issues seating tubeless tires

  5. That’s fucking awesome lmao. I have that same home depot sprayer but I use it to clean the bike a bit before bringing it inside. Really clutch for that if you live in an apartment.

Very nice – I spent $65 on an AirShot which fills the same roll as this. Good to have something like this trailside when you don’t have access to an air compressor and need to seat a tire.

  7. Bit of soapy water goes along way to help get tires to seat. Biggest thing you’re fighting is the friction between the tire, rim and tape.

Compressors are relatively cheap. I have several of them. Some of them I just picked up for free.

If you can get the bead set, why would you need a bunch of towels on hand?

Good idea in a pinch though.

Tubeless seating bottle is something I got a long time ago. Totally worth it.

Schrader adapter and gas station air works great to set beads
