After a string of accidents (including where an elderly woman was killed in a cross-walk where she had a green light), a group of cyclists in the Greater Reykjavík Area in Iceland got completely fed up with inaction on the safety of cyclists & pedestrians. Building on the concept of "Ghost Bikes" we painted yellow bikes and installed in a number of places around the capital area. We even managed to get the support of the local automotive group (The Icelandic Automobile Association)… which goes to show the level of concern.
