i (austrian, born in the 70ies) had this bike! in fact, it was the one i taught myself how to ride on. mine was golden. it was a hand-me-down from one of my sisters.

of course i had to try ride it with the folding lock open. one of my more spectacular crashes. i also remember experimenting with the most outrageous handlebar positions i could come up with. the chainguard had to go, and i had the biggest, loudest and shiniest bell on it.

it was a tank. and yet i managed to nearly destroy it, which prompted my grandma to buy me one of those new fangled bmx.

fond memories. treat it well and it’ll outlast you, op.

That’s awesome, I’ve been taking biking seriously for about 2 years now and bike probably 20 miles a day. I wish I would have known I was going to appreciate bikes this much later in life because I had some really nice ones when I was younger. A few weeks ago I had a bmx dirt rush 20, basically a 20 inch John Deere trick bike. Speaking of spectacular crashes a lil over a year ago I wrecked a 26 inch next after riding with no brakes and separated my right shoulder. Thought for sure my collar bone was broken, took me 2 months to heal but I was back on a bike 3 days in riding one handed because I couldn’t move my arm forward. I will definitely take care of this gem, today will probably be the only time I ride it . peace
