I was searching for a new road bike a few weeks ago and stumbeled upon this aeroad in the outlet with an extra 10% off. Hastily I bought it as there was only one left in my size.

I didnt do much research prior to buying, but have in the time since come to realize this is an older frame with a troubling seatpost design. The bike has just arrived, but I’m having second thoughts if its worth taking the risk with a known fault or just return the bike?

Everything else seems solid on the bike and would be a massive upgrade from my 10 year old second hand aero bike.

A friend had a cfr with this post and he never had problems with it. The sleeve solves the creaking issue

I have a 2024 CFR with this seat post design.

Just buy a decent quality fibre grip paste and don’t use the one it came with. I use “Finish line Fiber grip”.

I have zero creaking from mine. I take it off every 6 months, give it all a good clean and apply some new fibre grip paste.

I have this model and never had any issue. Also..I love this classic Colorway! I would keep it for sure

  4. Yeah it’s a great color, I would keep it. Make sure to follow the instructions on where to actually put the grip paste, this can make a critical difference.

    keep it!

I have this model and can recommend it

the seat post problem covers size 2XL and was recalled. Unless you are riding that size I wouldn’t be concerned.

    plus it’s a nice colour.

I got this bike recently as a new cyclist so don’t know much but it is freaking fast. 600 km on it already with also rough terrain/roads and no complaints, super solid.

I know the following reads stupid but I don’t know how to convey this in any other way.

Last commute I gapped a car on a nearly flat straightaway – never in a million years would have I thought I could do something like that and not even be all out. Absolutely insane bike, also crushed some uphill sections 10-15 kmh faster than my ebike first time riding it. Super responsive, grippy and for me personally it feels comfortable.

I’ve put just under 9,000 miles in two years and have had zero problems.

  8. The seatpost may crack where bolt presses on it. I had this problem. Canyon said its my fault offered to sell new one. I honestly used the tools they provided.

Have a CFR with that post and haven’t had any issues over 23k miles.
