After having ridden for several years with a second bike for commuting and winter duties, I need some help. The second bike gave out completely and I wanna put a rear rack on this thing.
The bike is a Canyon Grizl 7 AL in size 2XS (Ik, I'm super original. Why change what works, aye?)
And yes, those are the sought after (in the US at least) OG Canyon Fenders.
I have looked around a whole lot on this and other forums but I'm still not sure. I have found three good choices that I'd like to have a discussion about:
-
Ortlieb Rack Three –
I like that it supports the full range of QuickLock systems (I don't have any backs compatible with it yet though). My concern comes from a few comments I've read and pics I've seen of the rack not being level on some sizes of Grizls (not sure which). Not a massive thing but I'd like it to look cool to. -
Tubus Cargo Evo 28 –
The classic that Canyon used for it's promo photos. My concerns here are that I've read that some people have trouble with removing and installing the rear wheels since the rack put pressure on the rear stays. -
Racktime Eco Rack –
The cheapest one by far. Has the (imo) worst looks of the bunch and doesn't support any bag lock system (AVS, QL, whatever other ones there are).
Since both the Rack Three and Cargo Evo 28 are two to three times the cost of the Eco Rack, I wanna make an informed decision when forking out that cash.
Do any of you use either of these racks on a Grizl 2XS? What are your experiences?
And yes, I know the the Ortlieb Quick Rack and that one is not interesting to me since the bags I already own and wanna be able to throw on it would not fit well (cheap rack panniers made for racks with the spring loaded retention mechanism). And I don't like how the Quick Rack looks.

I had the Racktime Eco.
Worked pretty well with panniers, but Racktime have a bunch of stuff that goes on top of the rack and clicks into two rails.
I think you’re planning on keeping them on the bike and rarely taking them off right? I personally want a Quick Release mechanism so that I can commute during the day and go out for a ride in the afternoon where I don’t need a rack.
Tubus is the parent company of Racktime, you could look into their racks too, they don’t have that clicking mechanism. The Logo has a second lower rail that also goes further back, which could be more convenient than the single rail of the Racktime.
