  1. When I was in my 20s we were worried about nuclear war, yuppies and shitty government, (sound familiar?), But we fucking partied 90% of the time for sure!
We did have to wear rubbers though – uggh what a drag🙄

  2. I like to fix bikes and sell them. The art of this is,is not too spend too much money on paint, or new stuff. Clean up what is there with WD40 and soft wire wool on the chrome bits. I also have a satin black aerosol to tidy up pedals and brakes and seat stem, and a tin of Hammerite smooth, silver and black. I put a lot of effort into it, and make sure the chain moves properly, and gears shift, and check brakes.

  3. Once the bike has been restored that bit of rust becomes patina. Just restored a 1970s bicycle. Definitely some "patina". And it is in top 3 bikes I have ever built. I love to see these rusty lawn eye sores be restored and used again. They can last a long time if we can save them from the scrap.

  4. Why they leave it outside with all the air , water and pollution? It’s going to get rusted. The cloth and rubber as well as the chain oil lubricants will fade and evaporate.

Also the chance of it getting stolen is greater. I remembered my bike was chained/locked up outside fence and it was stolen. My bike was my only transportation to college. So I have to buy a new bike and put in inside.

  5. Nowadays people buy brand new universals for £100 and dont care. Not to mention the time you needed to repair these and parts plus the time until you find a buyer…
