  1. This is like the “rice or pasta?” question, it’s just subjective. These are both premium bikes and while they are advertised as more aero vs bit lighter, at this stage it’s really just down to what you prefer (subjectively). Both will perform great in almost all circumstances. Personally for example I dislike the look of aero bikes (shoot me, I know) so I would always go with the Ultimate.

  2. Honestly, it’s mainly up to personal preference as to which one do you like more, but if you want to nitpick:

Because you’re comparing a CF SLX Aeroad with a CF Ultimate, the Aeroad is actually the lighter bike of the two (on top of it being more aerodynamic), albeit not by much. That being said, the Ultimate is a touch more compliant in the rear half of the frame, and the geometry is ever so slightly more relaxed.

Deep down you know which one you want. Get that. For me it was the Aeroad and I love it.

Both look boss, flip a coin!
Slx for me, cos I ve never had a higher end carbon frame.

  5. If I would be buying Canyon, which will never ever happen again, I would take Aeroad… simply because it looks nicer for me. Same reason why I went with Orbea Orca Aero and not with normal Orca. Aero bikes look nices for me. I quit my pro racing career (even that not in cycling) 20 years ago so few seconds faster or slower doesn’t matter nowadays. Having bike that looks nice(er) for me is reason to pick one over the other. But that’s my preference, which might be completely different then yours 🙂

  6. If you want the more aerodynamic bike to be faster on flats, Aeroad is the choice.

If you want the lighter bike to be faster on the climbs, Aeroad is the choice.

If you want the cooler looking bike to impress your friends, Aeroad is the choice.

If you want more tire clearance, Ultimate is the choice (by 1 mm).

Honestly, unless you disagree with my statement that the Aeroad is the cooler looking bike, I dont see why you would ever go for the Ultimate

  7. I went with the Aeroad. It’s pretty light and I like the way it looks better.

That being said, just go with the one you like. That’s far more important than any minuscule difference between these bikes.

  8. Aero makes no sense if we don’t ride at 30km/h on a 10% climb like pro riders, Ultimate is best all around.

Aeroad. I was in this position a year ago: “aero or lightweight for when I need to climb?” The answer is aero. Most of the time you’re still going to be on the flats. Unless you literally live in the mountains. Pros are going towards using the Aeroad more even on hilly stages where total gain can go up to 4000m. I understand this version isn’t the lightest Aeroad, but it’ll do.

  10. I bought the ultimate, I love it, but also if I bought again I’d just get the aeroroad
