A few months ago I posted describing the modifications to my Trek Dual Sport 2 Gen 5. Currently, the bike serves me both for longer and shorter trips as well as for everyday city riding. Over time, I realized that the stock setup was a solid starting point, but only after a few well thought out changes did the bike become fully tailored to my needs.
What did I change? As I mentioned before, I switched to 700x40C wheels. I also installed a hub dynamo in the front wheel to power the front light, which significantly improves convenience on longer rides. I replaced the handlebar with a Cinelli Double Trouble (interesting alternative to the Jones H-Bar Loop) which required fitting a shorter stem (60 mm). I also added ESI grips, which noticeably improved comfort. I also replaced the pedals with wide platform pedals with pins from Crankbrothers.
