Social media is all abuzz over a video shot in Paris over the weekend. It was posted by a cyclist who found his bike parked in front of the Louvre Museum… colonised by a swarm of tens of thousands of bees. But this kind of phenomenon is less unusual than you might think in Paris.

We have the VERY aggressive European/African hybrid honeybees here in southern California. They usually swarm in the spring, but not always, and they are dangerous to approach when doing so.
Hmmm would definitely think twice about riding a bike with so many bees on it, theres a cut off point for trade offs surely even for comedic effect? Hmmm got me thinking…
What kinds of bees? Are they friendly?
