  1. Hi, thanks for the video, you have a fun energy! Having bicycle commuted for over thirty years I have a few tricks, and I'm happy to share. 1. I love my Bar End shifters. The advantages are that they are quick and easy to reach, you're only taking your hands off the handle bars for a moment. They are also light, affordable, and so well made that even my 7 speed shifters from the mid 1990s are still going strong. No Downside. 2. 3M reflective tape. You can buy 20 inch strip at a hardware store for around six dollars, then cut it into thin strips, then put them on the seat stays. This is a one time install, put them on and forget them because it's always there and working. 3. I recently bought a pair of gravel shoes for commuting, and found that my feet and legs feel better. The old saying is true, walking shoes are good for walking, but not for transferring work into a machine. It was a good investment. My last suggestion: I noticed your riding on an old men's saddle, women's saddles have come a long way in the last few years, and these have helped many women ride there bikes more often, and for longer distances. What you should look for is a saddle with a "relief channel" so you're not sitting on your soft tissue. A saddle that's helped some of my women friends is the Terry Liberator, narrow model. The saddle should also be level, not pointed down. Happy cycling in 2026, Tom

  2. Hi I commute to work every day the whole year round and I also do grocery shopping by bike for a household of 3.
    I like your list.
Personally in addition to it, I have a basket that can easily be installed on the rack and then own two panniers that I put onto the bike only for when I go to the market or supermarket.
I find essential for someone like me, who commutes every day to have rain clothes for the bicycle. I own trousers that also cover the shoes and a poncho. I prefer the poncho over jackets, because I live in Greece and at times a jacket can be too warm, even though it's raining. The poncho allows for quick putting on and is lightweight and doesn't make me sweat.

  3. I never use my bell anymore. People get confused, startled, or irritated. They think I'm using it as a horn to tell them to move out of my way. Instead, I slow down and silently pass them safely. Which also has startled people.

  4. It's great to see someone so down to earth and practical when it comes to cycling. Your set up makes travel cost effective and efficient, as well as enjoyable. How would you feel about using a mirror so that you can see at a glance what's going on behind you, another safety aspect.

  5. On the rear bike rack watch out how much weight you put on the back of the bike two milk crates
Loaded with food can make the front of the bike
Very light . I almost found out the hard way .

  6. Front basket with a cover! One thing many people dont say about a bike basket is that if you hit a pot hole or bump, the items you store in it pop out. Getting a cover for it makes its usablility infinitesimally greater, while also adding an aesthetic. You can also get a lining so that smaller items dont fall through the cracks on the basket.

  7. Every accessory but no kickstand. So you can hunt around for a tree or a pole or a wall to lean your bike on. And it scratches the paint or falls over and you can't work on it easily, or you have to lay it down on the ground. IMO kickstand is the number one first accessory to have.

  8. honestly the nicest looking commuter I've ever seen! mine is a bit of a work horse it must be said, I asspire to make it look as well organised as this :).

  9. I have drawers, full bicycling stuff, bike bags chain tires, petals enough to start a bicycle store I pretty much keep my own channel. I only watch bicycling stuff because Iโ€™m a bicyclist so you came up in my feed so I gave it a look. I donโ€™t need a thing everything you have. I have two or three of but then I see you have this biology well the computer is not spelling that correctly and it looks like a 1972 or 73 or 74 very nice shape I mean itโ€™s beautiful. I donโ€™t ride mine much anymore. Actually Iโ€™ve read it a long time. Mine is racing green. Thatโ€™s standard color is green. I donโ€™t think it has lugs to mount racks on it. Itโ€™s a racing bike the bike thieves, take note of it. Theyโ€™d like to steal it. That lock you have is useless. A battery driven grinder handheld takes about 35 seconds to grind off one of you bolts I mean people trying to steal it while you have your hand holding it some beautiful bike

  10. I see you use 1970โ€™s pedelโ€™s with toe clips , sence your a commuter, and a cyclist who rides to get somewhere. But if you ever have to stand on your petals to get up the hill or do some climbing, I see you have road gearing or if you do very, very long rides most likely your arches hurt of your feet every time you stand or you push hard on your petals youโ€™re flexing Your arch thatโ€™s why men use cycling shoes and cleats somewhere around 150,000 miles my feet said no more cleat shoes and I went back to using toe clips as well but I still have problem with my arch so I bought two toe clip cups the plastic ones not the steel ones like yours I bought two sets, and I cut the the top part of the clip of the pedal and mounted on the backside of the pedal and mounted the regular part with a tow catch on the front side of the pedal. This gives me a pedal thatโ€™s when you have your foot in the clip you find that you have your arch is supported because itโ€™s like 7 inches long doesnโ€™t take up much more weight and itโ€™s a little bit harder to get into when you start riding but then you get used to it and you learn how topop it down with your toe and slide your foot in and then that way when you stand up to pump hard your arch doesnโ€™t flex and I went on the ride 307,000 miles. Sure is a beautiful bike you have there.
