Today’s ride was something special

I set off straight from home and headed out to explore some of the hidden gems and historic highlights around Wakefield on a gravel route that really has a bit of everything. This one mixes quiet lanes, scenic off-road stretches, and some incredible landmarks along the way.

One of the standout moments has to be riding past the iconic chapel on the bridge — such a unique and historic spot, and it always feels like stepping back in time when you pass through there. Not long after, the route takes you by a huge stately home that really adds to the atmosphere of the ride — it’s one of those places that makes you slow down and take it all in.

The route itself is fantastic for gravel riding. There’s a great balance of surfaces, with plenty of off-road sections to keep things interesting, but nothing too technical — just smooth, flowing trails, quiet tracks, and countryside views that make it easy to settle into a rhythm and enjoy the ride.

Honestly, it’s one of those routes that reminds you why gravel riding is so good — a bit of adventure, a bit of history, and a lot of great scenery all rolled into one.

If you’re looking for a ride in the Wakefield area, this is definitely one to check out.
