Are we sure this wasn’t heat related in some way? Car exhaust or perhaps glass magnifying sunlight in a storage location? I don’t see how a sealant would react that way with rubber

Ask your client if they’re putting it in a bike rack at the back of their car. Then ask them to illustrate how it’s put in the rack.

Elastomers do not melt, they decompose.
