Hi everyone.
I need a new brake set for my every-day/commuter Kona Dr Dew since the old one is being moved to another bike. Currently MT410 brakes with 160mm rotors.
I found what I think is a really good deal for a second-hand (but never used) BL-MT501/BR-MT520 set which is being sold for just a fraction of its retail price.
The "issue" is, it's a four piston calipers system.
I don't need more stopping power; 2 pistons brakes are fine.
I'm considering it just because it's a very good deal.
My concern is losing modulation and control of braking pressure.
Any experience with 4 pistons on an every-day/commuter bike?
Is it going to be too harsh of a braking experience?
Any drawback I might have with switching to 4 pistons?
Thanks for your input.

I have four-piston brakes front and rear. The front disc is 180mm and the rear is 160mm, paired with 32mm tires. Modulation isn’t an issue at all. For reference, I weigh 95 kg.
4 pot brakes actually provide better control/modulation……
Using hope rx4s…PITA to bleed/maintain, but what a joy to use…..
The only downside would be weight really, which is minimal
I have MT520s on my commuter (upgraded from MT200s) and I LOVE them. I would put them on all of my bikes if I could. Perfect control with just a finger on each lever. Note that despite being more powerful, the servowave thing means you will probably get BETTER modulation than your current brakes.
Only downside is that I find myself riding more aggressively, since I know I can stop on a dime.
