Sorry for the "outside" video, but I guess this is real riding after 2hs of climbs and descents! I hope you can take a good look at the fit.

Everytime I look at my 29 XS Epic I keep on asking myself… is it the best I can do for training and racing? 🙁

5ft tall, 155 cranks (long because of leverage on long climbs, got 145s on my 27.5 full susp)

Does this bike actually fit? Any suggestions?

  1. OMG with that x-small frame it looks like you have the new 32″ wheels. How does it feel after 2 hrs of riding?

  2. Fit looks pretty good imo. Long aggressive geo but it doesn’t look like you’re reaching.

You’re bobbing a lot of the saddle, you need to adjust your seat hight or develop smoother pedeal stroke. I don’t know which it is from the clip.

You should put the smaller cranks on. Those look a little long. Also, you don’t need more leverage at the crank, that’s what gears are for. If you still need more ‘leverage’ get a smaller chainring.

  5. looks like a monster truck, but the fit is okay, if anything, looking at the knees, saddle could probably be a tad higher, like 1cm

  6. It’s hard to not look like that as a small woman on 29 wheels. The reach might be a bit long, but what matters is how you feel on it.

Yeah that looks good IMO. Knees are getting proper extension without locking, you don’t look like you’re stretched out on a rack.

Weird bit of advice; watch for psyching yourself out focusing on a flaw that builds in your imagination. Mine is wheel trueing. At some point when the ride gets hard there’s a little voice in my head that starts imagining one of my wheels being out of whack. It never is.

  8. Middle school students have bikes that look like this (6th – 8th graders, 11 – 14 years old). They ride 26″ wheels though.

  9. Bars might be a touch wide, unless you like maintaining that low of a riding position. I would also consider maybe switching to a mullet setup especially if you have any issues on descents getting a butt buzz

    Overall good fit.

I’d recommend a crank swap to some shorter length crank arms.

Common tissue with shorter people. No need to ride 172mm cranks that seem to come on every single bike.

  11. I was going to say get shorter cranks but I didn’t know you were already on 155mm. I’d try the 145’s tbh. How long are your legs? I’m 5’6″ but I have a 27″ inseam and I use 155.

  12. looks like you are only pushing the pedals down and not pulling back up. think circles and use your ankles ie down stroke toes down upstroke toes up. u r just doing push push push push. nice high cadence though
