Greetings everyone,
Just a quick question.
That thing in the red circle looks like it's about to fall off, and I was wondering if I need to protect the frame and stuff (when folding the bike it s where the hinge goes). I taped it up for now, as you can see. If I do need something there to protect the frame and cables, what do you use? Any better ideas?
Also, in the UK, would you suggest taking it to a dealer (like a gold service center) after a while for a service, even if everything's working fine? How many miles or months do you usually wait, and what's the typical cost?
Cheers.

It is not necessary, but it protects the paint from the locking piece that slides onto it when you fold your bike.
Fold your bike and notice what’s going on and you will understand.
That looks like some sort of packaging protection, should have been removed. 3M protective film is good, apply it to places where there might be scuffing, cable rub, etc. Amazon offers smaller sheets you can cut to your preferred sizes.
I used Clear Gorilla tape and this video to protect my frame

Isn’t that the top of the chainstay. As in part of the rear triangle that tucks under when you fold it. So that’s on top when unfolded or underneath with folded. So the front wheel hook goes on top of the folded underneath rear triangle chainstay. So that padding fits nowhere near anywhere that could rub it surely?
It looks like something cellotaped on. Likely just packaging protection that’s not been taken off.
Check it folded and unfolded. If nothing contacts it then take it off and forget about it. If there’s something contacting it, either folded or unfolded, then consider removing it and using helicopter tape or similar from 3M on that spot instead. It’ll last longer and do the job very well. I’ve got some on my chainstay of my road bike and it’s been there 8 or 9 years in all weathers and many, many washes. Ok not as many washes as it should have had.
You can get a metal replacement from AliExpress it also has protection for 3 other locations were rubs occurs for less than a tenner. You can either colour match or colour accentuate.
Just be careful, im not 100% sure with g line but the protector can cause gear problems if incorrectly placed.
Just there for shipping purposes. Remove and discard.
Thank you all for your help.
So I ll probably need to buy something like this

It unclear though if it fits the g line or not… I ll do some digging…
