Help me autopsy my bike tire. I went on a ride and then later at night I drove home with my bike on a rack. There was another bike on the rack. While driving, I heard a loud smack, as if there was an impact of something. When I get home, I take the bike off the rack and don’t see anything weird, except my bike tire is completely flat, which is weird because it was fine all ride.
For some more context; the rack has nylon straps and i’ve noticed them strangely fusing to tires. I still have no idea, only guesses, about this mechanism. It can happen as night as easily as during the day.
Also: I have no idea where this green goo is from. Perhaps lining, the tube? I had a shop replace the inner tubes last time, maybe they switched it out for sealant and didn’t tell me?

Your cars exhaust melted it. The goo is tire sealant.
Exhaust melted tire and straps and what you heard was the tire exploding. That still could be a tube, ie a green TPU tube that again was melted.
So you 100% need to get a hitch riser
The loud smack you heard was probably the tire exploding from being too close to your exhaust. Melting(fusing) your nylon straps to your tires. Need a different transportation system
Ohhh my Dude, you killed GT Smoothies! They are awesome tires, no longer making them. A little heartbroken on your behalf
Consider yourself lucky. Some of us have melted carbon rims with the exhaust…..
wow. thanks for telling. I use some off brand orange seal worked great. just dries out after 3 months
Car exhaust melting the nylon straps on the bike rack??
May I draw attention to the grenade valve. And you wonder about a loud bang?
