Hot take – Should fixie bikes have brakes? 🤔
The deal is that bikes HAVE to have brakes installed when purchased from a shop. After that, it’s totally fair game to take em’ off.
Keep em’ on or take em’ off, what’s your opinion?

In Japan it's obligatory to ride any bike with brakes
"ONLY YOURE A SISSY"got me rolling😭😭💀💀
im 29 now and my knees hurt . i dont want f*cked up knees at 30+ . im putting on the front brake .
only for bois with milky bussies
Growing up, my right foot on the back tyre was my brake.
I ride daily and think it is insane to ride without brake.
Back when I raced, there was an old saying…He who brakes, loses. Never thought that I should probably take my brakes off so I'd always win. I must admit that those 90+/- km downhills did scare me often. Would have been one hellacious decent without very good brakes.
no thank you. there’s a fine line between sissy and silly
Cool Stickers are more important than brakes!! No Stickers = Sissy. 😂
our coppers in australia would ignore actual crimes to fine you for not having atleast a front brake
How would you stop them
Rd bikes are for sissys brakes or no brakes
Oh yeah I hate all the hours I spend working on brakes I mean I own 7 bicycles five of them have brakes at both ends so if I had to add it all up I would say I spend about 1/2 hour each year working on all those bikes. I spend 45 minutes a year picking lint out of my belly button
I’ve been “dealing with brakes” on bikes for 55 years. It hasn’t been a problem yet. 🤦
And I’ve never run over anyone.
Idk, I think some BMX are sold without brakes. (Breaking the law!)²
😅
52/16
Front brake only. No use for rear.
People dont know how cool fixie bikes are. Well in my country many people think gears are just waste of money and extra maintenance so they prefer fixie bikes for their kids.
I ride those fixies at 40kmph of course you need brakes. Gears wont make your legs stronger.
If you cycle on a closed of circuit with other riders it's fine to take of the brakes. When you participate on a public road in traffic with other road users you should have brakes for safety
Never seen a guy on a fixed with Muscles. Try again
Bikers are an ill comunity
UK front and back because it counts as independent braking systems in case 1 fails.
People who takes brakes off for simplicity have achieved maximum simplicity themselves already.
Flatearthers riding around the block to buy coffeeless coffee with milkless milk with money the don't have.😂😂😂😂
Have fun becoming a hood ornament real fast.
Really? Not sure about that info of yours….velodrome bikes don’t have brakes…actually it’s UCI ILEGAL to have them…
I don't know if having brakeless fixie means reliability or simplicity. If you had to skid so much to slow down it would wear down your rear tire more often which means replacing it more often by taking the wheels off and on and etc.
in the uk its the law you must have brakes fitted whilst you ride them on the road, not just when you buy them. Additionally the excuses this guy gives are moronic, a bit like people who ride bikes without brakes
My fixie has a break it really is useful especially to busy streets and people who suddenly pop up in the way, gives me less expenses for hospital lmao
My state has laws saying all bikes must have functional brakes when riding front and rear. I don't think thats enforced though.
Brother come to India we use bicycles even without break and we never have any accidents
I don't have breaks 😏
If you actually ride hard you need a brake
So it's legal if you have brakes and just don't use them?
Sick!
