In this video, I weigh my 2022 Specialized Creo SL Comp. My bike has just been to my LBS for a replacement gear cable, as the original one had snapped. So, before I reloaded and mounted all my tech and accessories back onto the bike, I took the opportunity to weigh it.

My observations are the subject of this ride. So come along and enjoy another great cycling adventure.

  1. Weigh in at 13.4kg makes sense, Creo 2 with 47mm tyres and dropper seat was 14.4kg according to Specialized data. I think a light e-bike is best all-rounder. This week's ride with my mate who has full e-MTB weighing +26kg. I got the Creo through a tight kissing gate, but it took both of us to lift his e-MTB and we were close to needing remove front wheel. With a heavy e-MTB probably need to use ECO assist all the time whereas Creo 2 runs free and easy, no assist on the flat and low gradient hills. Creo has 320Wh battery, mates e-MTB 800Wh we tend to burn similar battery percentage over longer rides together.

  2. My Ribble Endurance SL e will be 4 years old in October & I've been thinking about upgrading. I really like the sound of the new Specialized SL 1.2 motor on the Creo 2, but why on earth do they only do all the models in gravel bike specific specifications is beyond me. I want the extra torque for the 20%+ Peak District hills, but I don't want a dropper post or 47c wide tyres for the flats. So now my attention has to look elsewhere (bikes with either the Mahle X20 motor or TQ motor).

  3. My original Creo 1 Comp was 14kg in XL. I did a large amount of upgrades and got the weight down to 12kg and you could really feel the difference. I put on carbon wheels, changed cassette and chainrings, carbon bars and Di2 GRX. I also made my own thru axle for the front that was half the weight of the original one. I have done the same with my Creo 2 and that is circa the same weight

  4. MV Lucky Explorer MAHLE X20 with 350 w/h battery = 13.46 kg with Shimano Ultegra SPD road pedals, Elite plastic bottle cages, 38 mm Rene Herse Barlow Pass tires and a DT Swiss 25 mm aluminum front wheel replacing the OEM carbon 40 mm that came with it. Bike only feels heavy when putting it up on the hook in the shop!
