The stars are aligned and I'm finally able to buy myself a quality drivetrain. Does anyone have any experience trying out tons of different rings?

Right now it looks like Aarn is a no-go (sold out everywhere)

Do I go Dura Ace 7710? Ball out on a Zen? Save some money and throw on an Affinity? Miche? FSA? I'm stuck.

This will be my first real drivetrain purchase, so I want to do it right. I spend a ton of time and put a lot of miles on my bike, so I'm not afraid of an investment to improve that experience for myself. I'm just not sure where the point of diminishing return is with drivetrain parts yet.

Planning on going with EAI cogs and a Super Toughness, regardless of what I end up with for a chainring.

Any wisdom shared is more than welcome πŸ™

  1. I really like my alter chainring and cog. They’re not outrageously expensive and really high quality imo, interesting designs too

Can’t go wrong with Dura Ace. It’s not gonna get you as many fixie points as a Zen,

Just depends how flashy you want your bike to be. Dura Ace is understated in the looks department. I own both, but prefer the DA. More of a classic look. Either will look good on your bike.

How many teeth you looking at?

You can never go wrong with 75’s and a zen. Classic and proven combo. I pretty much either ride those or omniums but I’m boring. You could go with campy C record or rotor if you wanna ball.

I ended up with Dura Ace/EAI combo + HKK Vertex Blue chain to top it off. Thank you everyone! All responses have been appreciated greatly.
