Got my shadow interlock v2 chain november of 2023. Never had any issues.
Last ride I heard some strange noises while pedalling home. Didnt have time to fix my bike (broke a spoke as well) and just took it out sunday evening to ride again.
Whole way to the park I am hearing that sound again. I decide to check what it could be..well I guess I was riding around on a broken link.
Fixed that link, rode for 10 meters..still the same sound?! Check again and had a broken link?!
Idk what happend..did I have 2 broken links on the chain?? Did I snap the 2nd link in 10 meters of rolling around?
Well, guess its new chain time now..
Got a cult halflink or a bsd halflink..lets see

All chains have a shelf live, and especially with the shadow, once you get repeated snapped links it’s hit it’s replacement time. Always check chains regularly, bmx gives them a harder life than many
I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’ve had such a hard time with these half link chains. I’ve never been able to get one that has the right amount of tension. Too tight, or too loose. Could they be breaking because they are too loose, or are yours too tight?
These chains are super easy to use if you need to remove links, but I’ve repeatedly struggled to add links back.
Might be a driver sprocket issue as well as alignment. These are generally very strong so snapping two links back to back is when I’d start diagnosing a potential issue elsewhere
Well, it’s rusty and bashed to hell.. so…
I hate half link chains. They stretch weird and because they last longer, people will ride them until all of the teeth on their sprocket are toast.
Just buy a 510hx, bluebird (same thing), or something similar and change it at least once a year. If you’re worried about breaking it, run a sprocket guard.
Doesn’t look like it’s been running straight, check the spacing on your sprocket and make sure it’s seated properly and perfectly inline with the one on the rear hub, also check that neither of them are bent or warped too because if the chain is running crooked then one side will wear faster against the teeth on the sprocket and break just like this.
It looks bone dry, try to lubricate/oil the chain.
Just time for a new one; and keep the new chain slightly oiled (or waxed)!
Bro I know you “use” your bike not squeamish!😅
Chain looks rusty tri flow once a month
Last year I literally broke my chain every other day of riding, I just bring extra chain and the tools with me at this point. Even have a backguard on, chains aligned but its as if its breaking itself on rollbacks
I got the interlock forged supreme chain. Lil heavier but I literally broke my chainwheel before I even phased that chain.
