Just purchased this Cervélo Soloist on facebook marketplace today and I’m worried. The branding on mine is matte and every picture online shows glossy decals. Could this be a factory mistake? The seller gave me the receipts also and everything looks legit and the bike itself looks and feels great. Is this a fake or respray? This color also just came out so I don’t believe it could be faked that fast

  1. As far as I know, fake Soloist frames don’t exist. For the most part, fake frame manufacturers focus on the sexy, top-end super bikes to copy (no offense to your Soloist) because the type of people who’d turn to buying fakes are the ones that want something that’s too far out of reach. Fake S5 frames exist but they’re easy to tell since they’re based off of the 2019-2022 S5, but the head tubes are deeper like the 2023-2025 S5 (without the 45 degree cut from the seat tube to the top tube and the newer one-piece bayonet fork). My point is there’s usually flaws elsewhere in the actual design/structure of the frame. Is it possible that the previous owner applied a matte 3M protective wrap over the bike? Look for clear raised seams. I wouldn’t worry about it too much though, enjoy the bike!
