Just a little rant. The GLine wheels that are meant to be tubeless ready are poor quality. Heavy, poorly taped rim and the fact there is a gap in the rim where it connects is shocking. Really feels like they cut corners on the wheels – probably why it weighs a ton.

Plus, the bead isn’t brilliant for tubeless and if you lose pressure it’ll just pop off the wheel. For a bike that costs £2600 it should have better quality parts.

Thankfully cycle to work takes some of the cost – but I’ll be looking at replacing the wheels and rims at some point.

Rant over.

Rim’s leaking is way too common an issue across the biking kingdom. Even the best wheels out there are not perfect and there is tyre to wheel incompatibilities all the time. And user error is also a factor, not that I’m claiming your is the case.

I hate the stock rims I had the same problem. But I found out it was my tape that I tore with the levers. But I never had that problem in my life. Normally a tiny tear would seal I think but the gap ruins it. I finally got it professionally taped and sealed but I still worry about the gap letting air out(have to check).
I spoke to one of the brompton guys and one of the ceo’s at the company when i was at Sea Otter Classic CA. They told me they wernt happy with the wheel manufacturer they found. They have a new wheel coming out to come with the gline, but they didn’t know anything about it or if its welded shut. One of them told me to take it to the bike shop and have them talk to brompton to see if i can get the new wheels if it leaks. He also recommended to change the rim tape right away at purchase cuz it does suck, he made it seem like its a normal industry thing(it is usually) but thats disappointing that they didn’t care enough to pay for a better tape and tape job and better wheels. Ill have to take to a bike shop if it leaks but ill argue even if it doesn’t leak its unreliable if tape is just a tiny bit torn or loose.

I’ve been massively happy with my light bicycle carbon rims, better tubeless setup, no seam. Saved about 63g per rim, although I’d suggest to get lower spoke counts if you can.

I did it because I was adding a hub dynamo, so why not
