Hey guys,
I’m currently running a 1×12 Shimano SLX drivetrain, but my SLX rear derailleur just broke.
I’m thinking of replacing it with an XTR long cage RD — would that be compatible with my current SLX shifter, cassette, and cogs?
Or will I run into any issues with shifting performance or compatibility?
Appreciate any advice!

Sure, but why would you want to? The XTR derailleur isn’t going to show a noticeable improvement of anything. Honestly, you’ll have a better chance of snapping it again with the ‘upgrade’. If you want a reasonable upgrade, ‘downgrade’ the derailleur to Deore and upgrade the shifter to XT or XTR.
XTR derailleur is just bling. SLX, XT, and XTR are pretty much functionally identical and even the weight weenie difference is astronomically small (80g from slx to xtr)
I agree that the xtr derailleur is just bling. It’ll be compatible, but ride the same as slx. If you want a noticeable upgrade, the xtr shifter feels a lot nicer
