Looking to buy a bike primarily to ride either A. following my wife around while she does her marathon training, B. Maybe short commutes (like a few miles on quiet roads), C. Very casual family fun rides when family is in town (again, short distance, think more like beach cruiser). I do not have any aspirations of gearing up for like a 100 mile road race or bombing downhill, so I’ve assumed that a gravel or hybrid bike might be the best bet for me? I’m also above average height/weight so I’m a little concerned about options/availability. However, I found this used bike locally and the price seems really cheap. It’s a mtb instead of a gravel bike, but is that a big performance step down if I’m really only seeing roads/boardwalk/shitty roads?
I’d like to keep any purchase under $2k for a “buy once, cry once” or much lower if this is more of a “you need to go through a few models before you know what you really like” kind of purchase.

Hey fellow Miami resident, if you look for Ozark trail exprlorers, there are ones around $150 and should give you less headache, they will also be less than 1-2 years old, specially if you don’t want to hit the trails.
I mean usually really figure out what kind of bike you want. If you’re not writing this thing on trails it’s going to be pretty slow everywhere else. Also it looks to be at least 10 years old? I would definitely look for something else.
