Wout van Aert just won his first Paris-Roubaix on his trusty Cervélo S5 aero bike, outsprinting Tadej Pogačar in the famous Roubaix velodrome.
Unlike Pogačar’s wild Colnago Y1Rs, his bike didn’t feature any particularly progressive or experimental spec choices – the Belgian superstar stuck with a tried-and-tested setup that doesn’t deviate greatly from his day-to-day race bike.
Where hyper-specialist bikes once ruled the roost, van Aert’s bike shows just how much Roubaix tech has changed in a few short years.
Let’s take a closer look at the bike that conquered the Queen of the Classics.

His bicycle is amazing!
Love it 💛
It's not the bike that won, it's Wout
A bike didn't win Paris Roubaix- a gifted athlete did. All the pro team bikes are light, stiff, aero, and advanced in design. It wouldn't have much mattered if van Aert had ridden a Cervelo, Colnago, Speciaized, or Trek, or any other, the real difference was in how ready the competitors were to endure the frantic speed, long distance, and treacherous roads.
Of course it is boring. It's a road bike.
Who is Woot never heard of him
What a bike! Fabulous!….Could be a winner??? Yes, I think it could!
Could have measured the tires!
But nice video, thank you.
It’s absolutely crazy that they can run the s5 for the cobbles. What a machine. The versatility of the bike is nuts. And. What does it weigh. 7,5kg. It’s light enough for climbing tooo.
Woot
I am not European, and i can pronounce Wouts name much better.
It's almost like english natives spell all foreign names wrong on purpose…. but I guess they just don't give a frick
They're pushing tire clearance right to the limit. I think it's a very beautiful bike.
Another race result ruined by the Internet. I didn't even have a chance to start watching the race before this video popped up.
Aero saddle? He sits on it, not sure how aero can be relevant?
Amazing that you can win Roubaix on a leased bike. Well done Wout!
Its pronounced "WOWt" not "woot"
What an embarrassing error to make, put some respect on his name (literally)
0:42 practicing your rolled r's 😂
And the S5 resale value skyrockets
crank length?? 165mm?
Aero saddle😂😂😂😂
Aero saddle… As if the saddle ever sees any clean air 😂😂
Dear Wout (not Woot) – I'm sorry I pronounced your name wrong. I was excited in the heat of the moment. I will ride 1,000x reps of the Trouée d'Arenberg as punishment. Signed with love, Jack Luke
I will take a "boring" bike any day if that means winning the Paris- Roubaix race.
Bikes don't win races, ATHLETES win bicycle races…using bicycles. The best (and in some cases, luckiest) rider wins…the bike doesn't make any difference unless it fails…like a whole lot of the road tubeless tires did. A great advertisement for this gotta have "tech".
if you say spoiler alert you are supposed to pause for a while lol
Road bike please
Boring and not amongst the Most beautiful bikes on earth 😬 But who cares, Wout WON A COBBLE MONUMENT – who gives a f about this bloody bike???
Cycling news confirmed Wout's back on 172.5mm cranks like MVP, I was skeptical about Wout trying shorter cranks being so tall and a powerful rider, his cadence looked good Sunday when going with Pogi, I am sure that little extra leverage along with all the other factors aligned for him to take out the win!
It's the Artist, not the Brush.
its a cervelo nothing new here !!! lol
Ironic that WVA won Roubaix on an S5 and not on the Caledonia-5. I don't think Visma is racing that bike at all anymore.
Im pogacar fan, but i rode cervelo. Mixed feelings now.
This guy looks like how americans portrait europeans on a parody movie
just use 42 49 deep wheelset
Non-drive side staging? Wout deserves better than that! 🙂
What size crank length was he running on this build?
u cant even pronounce a legend name correctly. not sure why you are the one to cover this video.
Wout averaged 30.5mph for 160 miles on this bike.
Woot woot
