I hadn’t had the need for an adult bike in some time but would like to ride around with my kids Im the park and have the option of doing some rides on my own. Not looking for a super fast bike or something that I can ride hard off road. Just a reasonable all-rounder. Listed for $1450 a little drive away from me.

It’s a cyclocross bike. But if you are willing to spend that money on a dork around bike you can do far better than a used $1450 aluminum bike.
I just spent $625 on a trek Marlin 4 to tool around with the kid on the greenways and parks around us and do some light off roading in the Nantahala. I’m currently investigating a different chain ring because I’m constantly getting out of the power band, but otherwise it’s great. If you’re just tooling around I’d grab a hybrid and be happy.
No thats well over 500$ too much for it
Crocket is cyclocross, which is kind of niche racing market. I don’t know much about CX, but $1450 seems overpriced.
I would get something like this. Trek Domane ALR 4 Gen 4. Brand new from Trek for $1800.

Or you can search used market for Domane (endurance) and Checkpoint (gravel).
Why drop down bars.
I use something similar to
Aventon Handlebars – Pace 4 Swept Back
Crockett is GOATed IMO. One of the best bikes Trek sells. Don’t let it being aluminum fool you, this is a high end aluminum frame.
For $1400, I’d say the price is about right. Not a smokin deal, but also not over priced. You’d struggle to get even just that frame for $1000 on its own. I have the emerald one and there’s not a chance I’d sell the frameset for less than $1000.
I also have a $7,000 Boone and the Crockett is every bit as good, just a little heavier.
