I went out to my local trail last night and tried to squeeze a ride in before it got too dark. It was going really well but I took a tricky corner over some roots too fast and ended up eating it. Now I’m waiting until tomorrow to call the hand specialist at my orthopedist since this will likely require surgery to repair.

It’s a bummer since I was feeling really good this season. It was also a reminder to be safe and not rush. Accidents can happen on trails you know really well.

Thankfully this was on at a section very close to the street so I was able to walk out and my wife was less than 5 min away with the car.

  1. Sorry man. Hopefully to put your mind at ease a bit: I had a worse break (I think) last year – head of radius in 6 pieces and totally misaligned; looks like you have one clean break. Will require surgery to put a plate in. I was back on the bike 4 months after the accident with surgeon permission.
