This is Day 2 of our 5-day cycling trip around Constance Lake (Bodensee) – the most purely beautiful day of the whole trip.

We leave Konstanz, join the lake cycle path, and ride 34 kilometers east through Switzerland without ever losing sight of the water.

The Constance Lake cycling route — Bodensee-Radweg — is one of the most popular cycling routes in Europe. It runs the full 260 km circumference of the lake through Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Today we ride the Swiss section: flat, fast, and beautiful the whole way.

We pass small ferry harbours, apple orchards, old wooden piers, and quiet lakeside villages. At some point we cross from Germany into Switzerland — no border post, no checkpoint, just a different flag on the next building.

We arrived at our second campsite Seehorn in Egnach on the shores of Lake Constance. We finish the day with a swim at Strandbad Wiedehorn. In summer, the lake is warm enough to swim and cold enough to feel alive 😆

Day 2 total: 34 km cycled.

📍 ROUTE: Konstanz (Germany) → Kreuzlingen (Switzerland) → Egnach (Switzerland)
⛺ CAMP: Camping Seehorn, Egnach, Switzerland

⭐ ONE BIKE IS A CITY COMMUTER:
One bike in this series is not a touring bike, not a gravel bike — it is a Decathlon Elops 520, a basic city commuter designed for riding to work. It completed all 150 km of this 5-day Lake Constance trip without a single problem. Good gears, solid frame, handles loaded bags. The route is flat and well-surfaced. You do not need special gear for this trip. If you already own a decent city bike, it is enough.
