I’m looking at a Looking at buying this 2008 Orbea Onix carbon road bike for $495. Full Shimano Ultegra, Mavic wheels, Continental Gatorskins, Fizik Arione saddle.

Seller mentioned a low speed tip-over at some point. Everything else on the frame looks clean but I noticed this mark on the seat tube just above the bottom bracket (see 1st photo).

Is this just cosmetic paint damage from the tip-over or is this something that should concern me structurally? Would hate to make a 5 hour drive and find out it’s a deal breaker.

Any help appreciated!

Only way to tell is physical inspection and tap test to the whole bike, paying special attention to that seat tube area. Any changes in sound from sharp pitch to a dull drop could indicate any damage. If you have any carbon specialists stores for cars/ bikes, they will be able to xray the area to confirm if there is damage.
