It wasn’t that long ago that we had the coalition government tearing up the College Street Cycleway. The thing that amused me was a suggestion that they rename the College Street Cycleway the Duncan Gay Memorial Cycleway (Duncan Gay was the name of the Roads Minister who tore up the original College Street Cycleway). I am looking at Sydney from afar (Canberra) and Thinking that Sydney is getting better for cycling.

I ride to work and for fun, and can say there is a heap of e-bike riders out and about. It’s awesome to see. More bike lanes will mean even more bikes because at the end of the day, cars suck in the city.

Do intersections have separated signal phases for turning car traffic and cycling through-traffic, or do they just funnel cyclists into left/right hooks?
If there is some sort of treatment, agreed – this is excellent. If there isn’t, then it needs serious improvement. Protected bike lanes are only as good as their intersections.
