Canyon has released its new Endurance model, which was inspired by races such as the Paris-Roubaix, where 35 mm tires are now standard. This piqued my interest.

I’ve been riding my Endurance CFR WRL Campa Edition (2024) with 30 mm Schwalbe tires on the road, light gravel and forest trails. So I switched to the 35 mm Pathfinder Pro (tubeless) and took them on my usual mixed route: road → forest → gravel.

Initially, I felt slower. In reality, I measured only a difference of 1–2 km/h.

The Pathfinders and the extra 5 mm made me feel more comfortable and confident, and therefore more daring. It was fun!

On the road, however, I have to admit that I miss the sleek racing feel.

An interesting detail is that:

Canyon says the maximum clearance is 35 mm, but looking at the frame and fork, I’m pretty sure 38 mm would fit. There’s still room.

What are your thoughts on the new endurance model and 35 mm tires?

Canyon’s endurance bike is called the **Endurace**.

  2. What ever you do, please keep using your bike with tan tires. The combination looks absolutely incredible!

  3. Tasty looking bike! I ride with Schwalbe G-one R Pro gravel tires 40mm front / 35 rear since a year. Still enough clearance. About 5 mm on both sides. I ride with the DT Swiss GRC 1400 gravel wheels with 24 mm inner width which even sets the tires a bit wider than the stock ERC wheels so maybe 42mm upfront and 38mm rear actual width. Only use this setup in late spring till early fall in dry conditions and works well.

Still a lot of space even with the 35s. I worry if I try this on my Endurace, I will start neglecting my Grizl.

I think the new Endurace CFR is great. The 3 non-ideal points are:
    – the wheels are not a good fit and are a waste of money
    – DuraAce is something that doesn’t make sense for me.

If they were selling that same bike with Ultegra and decent 25mm iw wheels I would be in the process of ordering one.
