I'm asking because I want an explore 540 S with an XL frame and 29" wheels, but there is someone selling an st540s with an XL frame and 27.5" wheels.
If the XL frames of the two match, I'd get the ST540S for half the price for a new explore and I'd put 29" wheels on it.
Thanks for anyone who knows!
Also, will the st540s xl frame and 27.5 wheels be good for a 188cm tall guy?

No, these frames are very different, get the 29-inch one. It is a much better bike. At 188cm you will be fine with the XL frame.
