Hi everyone, I need some help with my cycling shoes. Since there aren’t any stores nearby, I ordered a pair online based on my foot measurements. My feet are 294 mm long, 110 mm wide, and have a circumference of 260 mm, measured in the widest area behind the toes.
Based on that, I ordered the Shimano RX703 in size eu 47 wide. The problem is I can’t judge the correct fit because I come from climbing, and there the shoe fits perfectly when you really have no wiggle room anywhere. So maybe that is the cause of it feeling a little roomy for my taste. The cycling shoes fit so that I have about 6 or 7 mm of space in the front. When I open the Boas and slide all the way forward so my toes touch the front of the shoe, I can fit a little finger between my heel and the shoe. I also have some wiggle room in the toe and ball of the foot area.
How much wiggle room is okay and at what point should I go down a size? I plan to use them for longer bikepacking tours, so they need to be comfortable on long days.
I also made some photos of me standing on the insole. Maybe this helps.
Thanks in advance for your help

half size down? if its available. . just becareful if its too snug, after long ride, your feet expand. 47 is about 300mm. In actuality it should be fine. but if its too big just go half size down.
I’d rather have a shoe half a size to large than to small
I have same model, my regular size is 43 and bought 44 for the Shimano. I’m under the impression they stretch a bit after a while (not much)
I have 294mm foot too and had to buy like 2 sizes up with Shimanos, 49 if I recall.
That looks like really tight, maybe check lake shoes in the same price range, they have different width.
I also had Shimano, quality was great but my feet would hurt on the sides on longer rides because they’re way too tight
Get a wide version
Length wise good, width on the other hand…. ouch. You NEED wide shoes. Look into Lakes.
