  1. I’d use Dawn dish soap mixed with water and scrub it with a soft bristle brush ( I have a kinda long narrow one for cleaning car wheels). scrub gently, then blast it with the garden hose. If it doesn’t come clean enough do it again for longer (leave it to soak for awhile).

    If it’s stains made during assembly, brake cleaner (isopropanol) is very efficient to dissolve oil and grease without leaving any residue. That’s what I use at work when custumer have the good idea to use light coloured bar tape.

    It is only (but very) efficient to remove oil and grease but it is absolutly inefficient to remove anything else (dirt, salt, etc…)

    You will lose some (or a lot) of the vibrancy of the pink, but when it’s clean or brand new, you can apply some coats of shellac to preserve the tape longer. This is a common practice with cloth handlebar tape. There’s plenty of information about the subject if you Google it.
