Ok, so I am nearly 40 yo and never owned any bike of my own…until now! Thanks to OfferUp, I was gifted a missing link from boyhood. So far, I have taken it out a few times and loved every moment—even the not so fun for beginner parts.

Why am I making this post?

It feels like I am quickly being sucked into a world with no return and I would like to connect with like minds. Vets and fellow rookies are welcome to link with me. Let me hear your war stories, tiny tales, and various visions for the future. It seems we have all been bitten by the same bug and there is only one way to scratch this itch. I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine.

Anyhow, here is my bike. How insane is it that I never said those words until today but I have a strange feeling that this will not be my only one🤣

  1. Just turned 40 myself and am getting back into MTB after 20+ years. It’s something I didn’t realize was missing in my life and is now a much needed outlet. Nice bike! My buddy had a Mongoose back in the day, I was always jealous when I saw it.

As a 77 year-old road bike rider, I found myself loving riding in the woods. It’s your first couple of falls that really get your attention and make you realize that you really benefit from getting some lessons from local or professional coaching staff.

Welcome! It can go from a casual hobby to full on obsession. I had mountain bikes since college but never was super into until my late 30s. At 55 have multiple bikes, live near trails, travel to BC every summer to ride and a lot of my life revolves around bikes. It’s worked out pretty well.

  4. Hey, those are my home trails!! I’ll see ya out there, I’m glad you’re having fun!
