Hi all,
I’ve recently started getting into mountain biking more. I recently lost my brother who was a bike mechanic so I just used their rentals when going out with him.
I’ve recently got a fairly simple Sonder Broken Road ST. I went for a carbon fork as it was the same price for a very cheap rockshox vs a £400 carbon fork.
I’m thinking about getting a proper suspension fork so it can handle a bit more and then swap back to the other fork when travelling with it.
I’ve had a look and am a bit overwhelmed, the bikes designed for a 100mm forks and there’s a 101 options it seems. Most seem to be for cross country and I’m not sure if they’d be less durable.
I’d really appreciate any advice.
I’ve looked at stuff like the Fox AWL which is the cheapest by far from mtb classic parts for less than £200
Thanks in advance

First is the bike, the second is my brother racing at Fort William on his Demo 8
An xc fork will be able to handle a lot, I wouldn’t worry about the durability aspect as the xc designation has more to do with weight and travel. My condolences for your brother, from the picture it looks like he was a hell of a rider
