Having the FC6800 Shimano with codes NA and OB on my crank, apparently these could delaminate and cause a hazardous situation. Not an expert here but do these images seem worrying for any people that have more knowledge then me on this matter?

IF these are done and they need replacement, does anyone know if it's possible to switch from my current 53-39 to a 50-34 under the Shimano recall program?

was the recall automatic? Do they replace all with the proper code, not just wait until they break..

  2. Take it to you local bike shop that’s a shimano dealer. They’ll inspect for you free of charge

  3. I understood you can go to the local bikes hop and let them check for free. To me this looks fine, but if you are worries, go, let them check and if applicable they will replace for free too.

You need to have the crank out and chainrings removed to do any proper inspection. Your local shop can do this at no cost to you.

although a shimano dealer will do it free of charge

not to my knowledge. I always had to declare what chainrings it came with when sending it in. although shimano doesn’t care how worn the chainrings are so if you were to acquire a completely worn/broken set of 50/34 chainrings that would suffice (once it is confirmed that the crank is affected)

  6. I won’t claim to be 100% accurate here because I have not dealt with many but the few I have had it has been like for like only at no point have I ever had the opportunity to make any specification changes.

  7. Honestly just take it to your LBS for a check, I bought a secondhand 6800 group and ended up with a brand spanking new crankset because of this recall
