I think it’s rated for 8kg load (both sides), but it’s the first time I’m seeing a fender like that so maybe someone here has actual experience with it. I already have panniers but they have a very simple mounting system that won’t work with that so I either have to buy a new pannier or a rack and some kind of an adapter for the seatpost because this bike doesn’t have rack mounting points on the seatstays.

How should we know if you don’t tell us what it is?

Even if it’s rated for it, idk if I’d trust that

Will it break? Maybe not. Will it pull off to one side, rub against your wheel and be annoying as hell? Probably.

I’m going to tell you right off the bat that those kinds of pannier racks don’t actually work very well. My bike came with a similar “rack”, but the mounting system for every pannier I tried rubbed against the rear wheel. I’m not actually sure *what* these were designed with in mind, but it’s not the panniers you’re going to find for sale in most places.
I ended up buying an Ortlieb rack and panniers instead, and eventually just took the factory “rack” off entirely. It’s a good idea with a terrible design.

That’s gonna be a no from me.
*Maybe* if you were very, very careful with making sure your load was balanced between sides, that might work.
I can’t fully tell from this photo, but is it really the case that the only attachments are between the forks and at the hub? I appreciate the dedication to minimalism, but not if it’s gonna fall apart.
Design wise I’ve I always thought these looked really cool. The load ratings that I’ve seen for them are around 10kg though.

I wouldn’t even zip tie a water bottle to this.

Telling that most commentators say no, and the person with these actual fenders posts a pic saying it works just fine.

I think those rods on the fenders are designed for attaching skirt guards not pannier bags.

Is this for like a pair of dry socks or what?

I doubt it

You are getting all kinds of advice here- I can tell you my experience with this same rack that came on my BMC has been working fine! I carry lots, my Ortleib paniers don’t rub at all.

I’m impressed by the folks who have used them saying how well they work; my initial concern was that they weren’t secured by anything in front, but it looks like they are attached to the inside of the seat stays (and from inside the fender). Very cool. What are the fenders made of? Hopefully not plastic…
It *looks like* the bike has a chain, but also a removable right dropout, which makes me wonder? Chain or belt drive? I gather it’s an IG hub, in any event.

If this is a through-bolt, it’s prob fine for light-weight stuff like a change of clothes or something..
