You can cycle from Victoria in central London to Kennington in south London entirely on quiet streets and protected cycle lanes.

The route is 3.2km long (2 miles) and makes use of a new contraflow put in by Westminster council, protected lanes over Vauxhall Bridge, and the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens LTN.

  1. I live in India and frequently watch your videos, like some people watch train videos, for relaxation and entertainment. I think however that YouTube has (probably rightfully) decided that your content is not of interest to viewers in my region, and doesn't propagate your videos across the CDN, which makes them constantly buffer at any decent quality and very difficult to watch. Yours is the only channel I have ever run into this issue with, strangely enough!

  2. How long do folks find local motorists take to get the gist of cycle contraflows? And what sort of signage (if any!) highlights changes to occasional road users?

  3. As I cycle frequently through the Faringdon area I'm looking forward to the new Clerkenwell Rd protected cycle route they're building now, not sure when it's due to open!

  4. Typical! In the first few minutes you went past the three places I've worked for most of the last two decades. The reason I say 'typical' is because I don't any more, and that Vincent Square contraflow would have come in really handy when I still worked at those places! The fourth place (where I am now) isn't too far away so I'll check it out after work, but it won't actually have any day-to-day practical value for me now, other than sight-seeing.

  5. Hey Jon,

Thanks for another great video 🙂
I remember making a reply to a post of yours two years ago, when they finally contraflowed Douglas St! Great to see they have now made the route even better!!

I have some plans for a cycle scheme I have been trying to share with you, but I am not sure how to. I have tried to send you a message via twitter, can you see that? If not is there another way I can share them?

Thanks again for the great content

  6. Once Lambeth Bridge works finish (🤞very close now) would be interesting to see the alternative route that way. This route will also be helped by Walnut Tree Walk LTN to the north of Black Prince Road, now due to be implemented later this year and Kennington Triangle, if that ever gets moving again, to connect on east of Kennington to Elephant and Walworth.

Keep the via Kennington routes coming, great for us Kenningtonians

  7. I used to do this route unofficially when living in Kennington and working in Victoria. I had no idea it wasn't legal as I never saw any cars driving down the roads the Victoria side. Nice to see the journey again!

  8. Hiya,, Some advice please,, my daughter would like to know the safest route from liverpool st to Palace st victoria, she's planning to cycle through summer! Much appreciated
