why will this Schwinn bike pump not hook up to the valve stem on any of my bicycles? I thought maybe it was damaged so I went back to the store I purchased it from and grabbed a brand new one off the shelf and tried it on some of the bikes they had inside the store and same thing it just wouldn't seat itself properly on the valve stem mind you I didn't get it from a bike store so there is no one knowledgeable I could ask and then I grabbed a different Schwinn bike pump one of the foot bike pumps you step on instead of a t-shaped hand pump and same thing it would not attach to any of the bicycles the Schwinn have a certain valve stem different from other bicycles?

Use the schrader valve side. Push the hole onto the valve and lift the lever. It should lock on there.
I just tried it again it literally covers like two threads and when I lock it in usually it just pops right off the few times I have been able to secure it on the very tip of the valve stem it blows off after the first pump because it doesn’t have a secure connection I’m wondering if maybe the store I bought this from got a batch that have a factory defect or something? I have never had an issue pumping up a bike tire in my life
Make sure you’re pushing it on properly. I recommend pushing on the valve stem from the other side or having it pressed against the ground so it doesn’t move out of the way.
Honestly it might be a valve mismatch (Presta vs Schrader) or the pump head isn’t switching properly. Happens more than you’d think. Maybe double check which valve your bikes have or try a different brand pump—doesn’t sound like you’re doing anything wrong
